Alberto G. Valenzuela 96, passed away on May 20, 2011. He was surrounded by family and friends and died listening to sounds of a band that serenaded him in his final hours. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, son, Gonzalo; son-in-law, Arturo Cano and many friends and relatives. Survived by his wife of 64 years, Rebeca S. Valenzuela; daughters, Natividad Cano, Carmen Bungert (Jim), Lupita Ray (Russell), Josefina, Siria Irene Yanez (Luis), Lupita, Gloria Rodriguez (Rigoberto) and Graciela Varela (Juan); sons, Ricardo (Raquel) and Martin and sister, Petra Perez. Also survived by 29 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. He was born on November 17, 1914 in Caborca, Sonora, Mexico. He came to this country in 1943 as a guest worker with the Bracero program during WWII and eventually became a proud US citizen. Visitation will be held Friday, May 27, 2011, 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m., at Cathedral of Saint Augustine, 192 S. Stone Ave. A Funeral Mass will be offered Saturday, May, 28, 2011, 10:30 a.m. at Cathedral of Saint Augustine. Interment to follow at South Lawn Cemetery, 5401 S. COL. JAMES T. WINKLER*

He was a career United States Air Force officer, serving as a fighter pilot in World War II and Korea, where he flew the P-38 Lightning, P-39 Cobra, P-51 Mustang, F-80 Shooting Star, F-94 Super Lightning and the F-86 Sabre jet. Jim flew as fighter escort for the reconnaissance mission the day before the bomb was dropped at Nagasaki, Japan. He flew many other fighter aircraft later in his career, including the F-100 Super Sabre and F-102 Delta Wing. Jim was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with One Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, the Air Medal with Six Oak Leaf Clusters, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, Army and Air Force World War II Occupation Medal, the Philippine Liberation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Korean Service Medal. He maintained his pilot's license well into his 80's, owning, restoring and flying a variety of private planes., Jim first retired to Yuma, Arizona, where he worked as a pilot for Bruce Church, Inc. He later moved to Lowell, Arkansas, where he worked for Pel-Freez. He enjoyed raising rabbits and guinea pigs., Jim had a long history on Jayhawker Cove which is part of Monkey Island on Grand Lake, Oklahoma. His family has owned property on Grand Lake since the 1940's.

Caliope Centner Caliope found peace and comfort as she left this world when Heaven welcomed its newest angel on May 21, 2011. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald. She is survived by her children, Gerald Jr. (Brenda), John II (Lee), Nicki Quesada, Theresa Anderson and Susie (Steven) Cohen; as well as 12 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her. A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Tucson Meadows, 2121 S. Pantano at the clubhouse. MORRIS, Garyof Gilbert died unexpectedly of coronary artery disease at the age of 56 on May 1, 2010. A Memorial service and burial took place at Queen of Heaven Mortuary in Mesa on May 6, 2010. He lived most of his life in Gilbert, Mesa, and Tempe. Gary was born in Brockton, MA, lived in Rockland, MA, and moved to Arizona in August 1961 at the age of eight with his family. He graduated from Moon Valley High School in northwest Phoenix in 1971 and moved to Tempe in 1972. Gary was close to his family all his life. With his parents Conrad C. Morris deceased September 29, 1993 and his mother, Mary, he co-owned and managed a Baskin-Robbins ice cream franchise at University Drive and Alma School Road in Mesa from 1973 to 1978. He was employed at the former Motorola Semiconductor Plant in Tempe as a manufacturing support technician from April 1976 to May 2001.Gary loved cars, boating on local Phoenix area lakes, vacations in San Diego, the Midwest, and Florida, and decorating and maintaining the home he had shared with his former wife, Carol Kemmer, and daughter, Lisa, in Gilbert. JAMES K. HAMPTON II James K Hampton II, age 42, a 7-year resident of Fort Mohave, Ariz. passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2011, in Fort Mohave, Ariz. James was a great all around guy, James made several significant career contributions in his short life. He graduated from North Brunswick Township High School in North Brunswick, New Jersey. James worked as a Mortgage Loan Officer and Closer while acting as a licensed Real Estate Salesperson and Notary. He also graduated from Northern Arizona Regional Training Academy, third in his class with a 4.0 average. James was employed by Mohave County Sheriff’s Office for several years as a Deputy Field Training Officer and was recognized for his investigative abilities. He was the Marketing Manager/ Co-owner of Hampton Family Insurance and Financial Services in Fort Mohave. He enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, barbequing, jamming on the guitar, fixing up his 1967 Camaro, updating his "Steelers Shrine," entertaining friends and family, and spending quiet time painting his daughters’ nails. James was always the one anyone could call on to help out in "any way and at any time." He will be greatly missed. James is survived by his wife of 11 years, Kristina L. Hampton; two daughters, Abby and Megan Hampton; son, Joseph Spennato; mother, Virginia M. Hampton; sister, Monique (Greg) Hampton Lennon; mother-in-law, Mary Lou Stephens; father-in-law, Robert Stephens; brother-in laws, Tim D’Amelio and Anthony (Kate) D’Amelio; and nephew, Blaze Lennon. James has extensive family in North America and Croatia. He will be remembered by an abundance of close friends. Jamie D'Lynn Lackey 22 years old, tragically left this world for a better place on May 18, 2011. She is survived by her mother, Terri and dad, Billy; brother, Scott; grandparents, Cecil and Barbara Miller, Bill and Sue Lackey and Jerry Bates; aunts and uncles, Cara Miller, Cindy Winkler, Susie Lackey, Susan Shepardson, Brenda Rininger, Brian Miller, Stephen Lackey and numerous cousins. Jamie was born on June 6, 1988 in Tucson, Arizona and from that moment on never met a stranger. Jamie graduated Mountain View High School in 2006 and excelled in basketball and tennis and no matter what she did; she was a force to be reckoned with. In December 2010, she graduated with her Bachelors of Science degree majoring in Advertising and a minor in Public Relations from Northern Arizona University. While at NAU Jamie was an active participant in the Advertising Club. In between her studies and work, Jamie developed the passion and love for snowboarding, where she could be found shredding the mountain. There wasn't one thing that Jamie didn't put her heart and soul into including hanging out with family and friends, listening to music, playing her guitar and hiking. Her positive attitude and energy were boundless and contagious; she was a friend to everybody. Jamie took on life with the utmost exuberance, and had a kind and giving heart; wanting to come to the rescue of others. For 22 years we were all blessed to have been a part of her life. She was then and will forever be a part of our lives. For those who were lucky enough to have met Jamie, you knew she was a special person. PETER ALDEN ADAMS Peter Alden Adams, age 74, a 43-year resident of Antelope Valley, Calif., died Saturday, May 14, 2011, in Bullhead City, Ariz., of natural causes. Peter was born on August 21, 1936, in Hanover, N.H. He graduated from Avon Old Farms School in 1954, and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps where he served as an aircraft electrician in the Marines from 1954 until 1964. Upon leaving the Marines, Peter worked as an aircraft electrician for several aircraft companies over the next 24 years, working on many aircraft including the Lockheed L-1011 and SR-71, the Rockwell B-1A Bomber and the Space Shuttle, and worked his way from a production line electrician to Manufacturing Supervisor. Peter was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the National Rifle Association, the Loyal Order of the Moose, and the United States Bowling Congress. Peter is survived by his companion and love, Eunice Moussette of Palmdale, Calif.; his son, Timothy A. Adams of Chesapeake, Va.; his daughter, Kelly Moiser of Bakersfield, Calif., a step-daughter and step-son; eight granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren A viewing will be held from 7:00 p.m to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2011, and from 9:00 a.m. to 10 a.m., on Friday, May 20, 2011, at Dimond & Sons Silver Bell Chapel, 2620 Silver Creek Rd., Bullhead City. RUBY LEONA RUEHLE Ruby Leona Ruehle, age 80, a 28-year

RUBY LEONA RUEHLE Ruby Leona Ruehle, age 80, a 28-year resident of of Bullhead City, passed away with family by her side on Sunday, May 15, 2011, in Bullhead City, Ariz. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandma, great-grandma, aunt, and friend to many. Ruby, a housewife, was born on June 6, 1930, to Timothy and Alberta Erwin of Visalia, Calif. She had five brothers and three sisters. She attended and graduated from Verdugo Hills High School in June of 1948. Soon after, she met and married the love of her life, Jerry Ruehle. They were happily married for 62 years. They had three children, five grandchildren, and nine great- grandchildren. They raised their family in southern California, and retired to Bullhead City in 1982. There she enjoyed spending time on Lake Mohave and the Colorado River with her husband and family, playing bingo, and attending her grandchildren’s activities. She also became very active in her church, St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bullhead City. Ruby kept in close contact with her large extended family and circle of friends throughout her life. She kept everybody informed of everyone’s lives. This kept the family close, despite the distances that separated them. Ruby also loved to cook. Nobody left the table hungry when they visited her home. Her “Erwin Beans” and famed “Enchilada Casserole” were always a big hit at family get-togethers. Ruby’s chili was often requested at church functions. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Timothy and Alberta Erwin, and three brothers, Leonard Erwin, Bart Erwin and Jay Erwin. Ruby is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jerry Ruehle of Bullhead City; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy and Dan Clague of Etowah, N.C., and Virginia Ruehle and Ted Losee of Valencia, Calif.; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Ruehle and Nicolette Thude of Anchorage, Alaska; two brothers, Joe Erwin of Ballwin, Miss., and Lee Erwin of Bullhead City; two sisters, Alberta Ward of Mission Hills, Calif., and Blanche Orley of Washington State; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; her in-laws from the Ruehle side of the family who she always held so dear; and a multitude of friends. A memorial service for Ruby will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 23, 2011, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1664 Central Avenue, Bullhead City, Ariz. Dr. Earl J. Pierce, Pastor, will preside over the service. Family and friends are welcome to attend. Funeral arrangements are being made by Dimond and Son’s Silver Bell Chapel, Bullhead City, (928)763-5440. JUETTEN, Robert Joseph, died early May 21, 2011 peacefully in his sleep. He was born February 19, 1928 in Maple Lake, MN. Robert married Kathryn Kozel on June 27, 1953. He worked at FMC in Minnesota and is also a retired Navy Veteran with over 40 years of service. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn; his daughters, Mary, Carol and Kate; his grandchildren, Robert, Phillip, Amber, Luke and Aaron and his brother, Andrew. WATSON, Ryan Eldon 36, peacefully departed this life on April 26, 2011 in Mesa, Arizona, surrounded by his devoted family and friends, and by the boundless love of scores of those who gathered from all over the state and country to support him. Born October 16, 1974 in Mesa, to Richard Watson Gilda and Jane Lopez Rene, Ryan grew up in Mesa along with his siblings, Travis Watson, Beth Kelly Nick, and Jeffrey Watson Amadea, graduating from Mountain View High School in 1993. He later lived and worked in Phoenix, as an auditor with AIG. Ryan was blessed with insatiable intelligence, endless curiosity, wondrous imagination, and a unique, irreverent sense of humor. No person himself included, human foible, or political situation escaped his rapier wit, leaving us constantly laughing and shaking our heads. he loved the outdoors, hiking, exploring nearly every state, and especially enjoying the soothing beauty of the ocean. Ryan defined the word "friend" lived life fully, and loved his family and friends fiercely. He especially loved his nephews, Alex and Jack Kelly. In sharing Ryan's life and even his dying, he taught us how to live life generously, with humility, fun, compassion, devotion, integrity, courage, grace, and immeasurable love. Ryan, you set the bar high. We will honor you by doing our best to love life as you did, carrying our love for you in our hearts all our days. A memorial celebration to honor Ryan's life will be held at Stonecreek Golf Club, 4435 E. Paradise Village Parkway South, Phoenix, on Sunday, May 8th, from 5:00 - 8:00 Memorial at 6:00. Donations in Ryan's name may be made to Hospice of the Valley, and or to the University of Arizona Foundadtion/Arizona Cancer Center.
